CO2 Regulator Settings
Viper — Operation
-
Freeze Barrel CO2
The Viper is supplied with 75 psig CO2. This pressure is routed to secondary regulators located behind the splash panel. The regulators are used to adjust the amount of product overrun (expansion) for each of the individual barrels. The factory setting is 36 psig. CO2 settings can be adjusted depending on the overrun you are trying to obtain and syrup being used. It is not recommended to exceed 42 psig to any barrel.
-
Orifice CO2 Function
The regulated CO2 pressure for each barrel flows from its secondary regulator to individual solenoids and then through a fitting with an orifice to meter the flow of gas. The CO2 then passes thru an in-line check valve before being introduced into the mixed product at a tee fitting prior to entering the particular freeze barrel. For standard overrun Vipers the inside orifice diameter is .030 inches and for low overrun Vipers the orifice diameter is .016 inches.
Note: The orifice adaptors should not be confused with common ¼ X 3/8 spliced barbed adaptors.

Expansion Tanks CO2
The Viper is supplied with 75 psig CO2. This pressure is routed to the expansion tank regulator which is located on the right side of the unit and is factory set at 30 psig. Do not change this setting. The regulator has a weep hole in the dome. As the product in the barrel expands from temperature differences, the product is pushed backwards into the expansion tank and against the tanks internal bladder. If the liquid side of the expansion tank is higher than the gas side of the expansion tank bladder (30 psig) the above 30psi pressure bleeds out the weep hole in the regulator cover.
